vickygrout1‘For Life In The Open’ – A statement Penfield have lived by since its inception in 1975. For Spring / Summer 17’ the brand famed for its reliable outerwear, look further into the meaning and explore its diverse connotations.

Since it’s foundation Penfield have looked to combine technical knowhow with good design, wherever that may stem from. After working on collaborations with brands such as Stussy, Alife, and Maharishi Penfield have examined what that exploration means to a different market and consumer who have found an affinity with Penfield.

penfield-ss17-tds-agency-07The preview is the product of that exploration, a collection of block bright outerwear, soft jerseys and bold graphics. Heavily influenced by the culture of 90s sportswear the collection explores classic American clothing’s relationship with streetwear. Taking this in mind Penfield enlisted TDS agency from The Daily Street and photographer Vicky Grout to shoot a preview for the collection.

vickygrout2Headed up by Adam Scotland, Alex Powis, and Jamie Szulc The Daily Street was started in 2009 and has become known for being one of the foremost authorities on U.K streetwear culture. Vicky Grout has quickly become London’s foremost grime photographer, renowned for her portraits of London’s biggest grime artists. Having grown up surrounded by the very same references that inform its collection there was no one better placed to interpret and produce this preview.
